oldskool is a classic-style arcade game based on the classic Atari ST/Amiga game "Llamatron 2112" by Jeff Minter (also known as "Yak"). Llamatron is based on the classic arcade game "Robotron". oldskool is an ode to classic games in general, and to Llamatron in particular.
In the game, you control an alien tripod vessel in a strange dimension. You must rescue sheepies, lama's, and penguins from the baddies that are out to get you. Collect bonuses for (often temporary) goodies. Once you clear a level, it's on to the next one.

Important
Move the tripod with the cursor keys.
The tripod fires automatically in the direction of movement.
To keep firing in a direction, hold down the Ctrl or Space key.

There are two alternate gaming modes:
  * press Up or Down cursor key on the intro screen to enable the droid that helps you.
  * press Left or Right cursor key on the intro screen to enable a crosshair. Use mouse to aim at bad guys.

Few issues

• There is no sound ... Sound works, but I have no sound files that can be legally freely redistributed with the game. Sorry.
• The Linux version exists but is not available for download yet.
• The Mac OSX version exists but is not available for download yet.
• OpenGL / OpenAL versions exist, but ...
• Alternate keyboard layouts (like Dvorak) do not work in Windows and Mac OSX This looks like a problem in the SDL library.
• Full screen mode does not work in Windows in this version. But it's actually fixed in a version that's not avail for download yet.
